8/21 - Day 8 - Travel Day 2

It's hard to believe we've be on the road with this caravan for over a week! Things are going very well. Today's travel involved an easy and quite scenic drive, following the Lake Michigan shoreline for quite a distance once we crossed from Wisconsin into Michigan (and entered the Eastern Time Zone). Traveling north, we soon crossed the peninsula and found ourselves on the southern shore of Lake Superior in the small town of Munising. Once parked, we jumped in our carpools to start exploring. We learned about the area and Lake Superior National Shoreline at the local Visitor's Center, and then followed up with another nice buffet dinner at Sydney's (brownies and cheesecake included!).

After dinner, we ran into a snag. Our plans called for a sunset cruise along the Pictured Rocks shoreline. When we arrived at the pier, we learned that the last few sailings had encountered rough waters and turned around prior to completing their tours. Discretion being the better part of valor, we decided to defer our boat ride until tomorrow morning. The caravan leaders sprang into action and quickly reorganized our day, finding space for us to park the coaches for the morning and rearranging the travel waves for tomorrow. With that all sorted out, everyone was able to relax and watch a fine sunset.
