8/18 - Day 5 - Travel Day!

Today, we were up and at 'em and ready to form up for the first travel day on this caravan. Given the number of coaches involved, we'll travel in four "waves" of 4-5 coaches each. This will help reduce congestion at the start and end of the travel day.

Today's drive was just under 160 miles, traveling from Baraboo to De Pere/Wrightstown, in the suburbs of Green Bay. We all made the trip fine and were soon backed into our spots thanks to the expert parking crew.

After a short rest, we were off for a tasting at the Captain's Walk Winery, right in Green Bay. They make quite a few wines, both using both vinafera and hybrid grapes, some of which are locally grown and some shipped in since many varieties can't survive the winters in the area. After our tastings, we retired to the winery's upstairs lounge area where were learned the history of the site and heard stories of various ghost sightings (none by us, thankfully.

Later, we headed for dinner at The Marq, a catering facility close to the campground. Coincidentally, this company did the catering at the recent Monaco International Pre-Rally in Manitowoc, and they did another fine job.
